Different places-Different lives

Calvin lives on Vatersey, an island in the Outer Hebrides, Scotland.The island is very small. it is kilometres long and five kilometres wide, and thereare fewer than 100people on the island. Calvins father works as a fisherman. He usualy leaves the hause before six oclock in the moirning. His mum always spends the dey at home .She often does the housework but that isnt the only thing she does. She teaches Calvin and his three sisters too. Vatersey hasnt got a school so the children learn at home. Calvin and his family sometimes watch TV in the evenings, but not very often, because the picture is hardly ever very good.

Mawar lives in the villege of Kertajaya, West java. It is 80kilometres to the city from Mawars home. And it is a seven kilometre walk to real school. But Mawar never goes to that school. There is a temperory school in Mawars village, and thats where she 100other pupils have their lessons every day. i cant walk seven kilometres to school and back again every day. There are often storms and there is a lot of rein, Mawar says․ The school in our villege is great. The building is old and it isnt very good. But it means i can i can alweys go to school. Mawar and her family never watch television- they havent got a TV
